Carpet Patching

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to perform a patch, however it does take a master technician to perfect it and make it look as invisible as possible. Carpet patching is an art and takes a great amount of skill. The rows of the carpet must be perfect, the seams must be invisible and most importantly, the direction of the fibres must be aligned correctly. If any of these ‘ingredients’ are lacking, the patch will be more noticeable. If we feel your particular patch will be noticeable we will let you know before we start. We utilize state of the art electrical tools to make sure we get the best results. An extra piece of carpet certainly helps, however if you don’t have any, we can take the extra carpet from a closet, under a piece of furniture or even from under a wall.

Carpet Re Stretching

There are 3 reasons why carpets need to be Re-stretched

1. 60% is due to Poor Installation for when the carpet was installed as all carpets should be power stretched in drum tight not just by using a knee kicker but a power stretcher tool to get the right tension other wise the carpet will buckle or ripple in time.
2. 30% is due to Excessive Wear, which results in the carpet to buckle or ripple. Carpet primarily consists of 3 layers: Fibres, Glue and a Jute backing when the fibres are worn and the latex glue is broken down then there is nothing holding the carpet together therefore delamination occurs but can be repaired.
3. 10% is due to Damage/Age. the carpet is damaged due to age of the carpet or somehow the carpet was damaged physically by inferior cleaning methods etc.

Split seams in doorways and halls can be repaired by our skilled technicians we can re cut and join the seams then power stretch your carpet back into place. We also can repair where carpet meets the edges of kitchens or bathrooms.

Basements are another commonplace for Berber, and also hallways and stairs. However, Berber carpet has a weakness… it snags very easily. Whether it’s the vacuum cleaner or the dog’s nails snagging it, we can fix it by performing a bonded insert on it.
