So you have moved in and after a couple of years, you have decided to move out. When you moved in do you remember how the carpet looked? Was it clean and stain-free? Perhaps you forgot and decide maybe I should look at the condition report that you signed when you first moved in. Now let’s say it says everything was fine or maybe nothing was written in the condition report. Anyhow this is where things can get a bit tricky.
The carpet should look the same on the day you moved in taking into account fair wear and tear. Now after you have moved all your furniture out you realize the carpet is dirty and stained. Now you need to call a professional carpet cleaner, (please do not go to bunnings or woolworths to hire a carpet cleaning machine) a professional carpet cleaner should be able to clean your carpets and all is good but it all depends on how good your carpet cleaner actually is. Some a bad and some a good. Did they remove all the stains? Are there any coloured stains left that were unable to be removed. Does it still look dirty? Oh Dear! If this happens to you then it was because you called around looking for the cheapest carpet cleaner you could find right well some good carpet cleaners are just as bad. Unskilled carpet cleaners are everywhere in Brisbane, cheap equipment, no sign writing on their vans, and hey some don`t even turn up at all.
The first thing you want to do before booking in a professional carpet cleaner is read their google reviews. If they don’t have any google reviews then DO NOT USE THEM there is a reason for that, they are terrible. If you really want to find their reviews and can`t, just type in their business name in google search followed by product review. Better yet go to productreview.com.au and type in there business name, you can thank me later.
Now here are some tips so you don`t get caught out when vacating your rental.
- Don`t wear shoes inside on the carpeted areas.
- Don`t let pets inside but hey we love our pets. Then train them NOT to go to the toilet on the carpet. You see pet pee will cost you thousands WHY? Because you will have to replace the carpet when vacating due to the horrendous smell, especially after you just had the carpets cleaned because now the carpet is wet, and that pet pee is now activated. Trust me train them, it will save you in the long run.
- Carpet Stains will cost you in having to replace the carpet if unable to be removed. You know the hardest stains to remove from carpet are coloured stains like red cordial, red wine, pen marks, crayon marks anything coloured will dye the carpet and when you move out these coloured stains and now your problem. If you accidently drop something on the carpet you need to react asap. Read our tips on stain removal before proceeding. If you have a pen that is leaked onto your carpet, then sorry you’re in trouble. No matter how good your carpet cleaner is it all depends on the carpet fiber. Wool carpets are bad for colours stains and the cheaper carpet fibers are too. Many carpet cleaners will promise you not to worry, we will remove those stains but unfortunately, they can`t and now your out of pocket.
- Pet Hair is an issue if not removed before you move out. Carpet cleaners who carry a industrial vacuum with a head attachment can remove pet hair from carpet as general carpet cleaning does not. Only dry vacuuming will remove pet hair from carpet.
- Blue Tac and chewing gum can become a real issue if it is not looked at. I have seen 80 blue tac pieces stuck to a carpet cleaning job and I can tell you it will cost hundreds of dollars to remove.
Remember you can always get your bond back following the above tips. If not, you will have to fight your property manager through QCAT and if you have ruined the carpet you will not win. I hope this helps and if you’re looking for a carpet cleaning brisbane company call SafeClean 073 823 2333.
